Gerald the Crocodile

Hi Everyone

My name is Gerald & I’m a crocodile from the Northern Territory, Australia.
Being the runt of the litter I had to get whatever food I could so I developed a taste for oranges, sponge cake and blue cordial. Not red cordial though! I’d rather not go to the dentist if I will if I have to.

This guy is the first of my “Wildlife of the World Adventure” series. After developing I gave my followers a week to come up with a name & biowith the winner getting their own physical Gerald the Crocodile. I will be doing this with all this collection.

In developing my Totodile I found a way to complete the mouth of a crocodile that I thought I could scale up to resemble a crocodile more. Turns out I could. This guy also made use of my knowledge on my Charmander post by allowing a consistent chest to tail colour which I am a little proud of

This guy is relatively easy to complete provided you can change colours. The head and body are made separately as well as the toes & legs. All pieces are made with a magic ring so you’ll need to know how to complete one of these too.

This is my first pattern for sale and the aim is create a book series at the end. If you would like to purchase this pattern he is $4.50 AUD and can be purchased on Ravelry here. For those of you without a Ravelry account please use This Link. If you would like the physical toy I can ake it for anyone in Australia. Please reach out to me here via my contacts page & I will organise an invoice & get it out to you.

In the pdf you will find:
– written step by step instructions on making & assembly
– Image reference guide
– bio tag page to add to your finished toy

As always you can reach out to me here or email me on danscrochetadventure@gmail.com if you need assistance with this pattern.

Technical Notes and Gauge:

  1. If there is something specific about a section I will note it there and it is only applicable to that section.
  2. Crochet in continuous spiral rounds, unless specified otherwise. Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to keep track of the last stitch in each round. I usually pull the tail of the MR through when needed as my stitch marker.
  3. When filling with polyester stuffing, pull apart each large chunk into many smaller chunks. This ensures an even distribution of firmness within the amigurumi.
  4. Use sewing pins to secure limbs of the amigurumi before you sew them.
  5. Gauge: 5 rows of 5 sc = 1” x 1” or ~2.5cm x 2.5cm
  6. Stitch count will be summarized at the end of each row in brackets
  7. There are some images at the end of here to help you with certain sections. Please refer to them if you struggle/want reference for any parts – will be noted as (Fig X) at end of Row/sentence.
  8. This pattern has colour changes within the row. You need to be comfortable completing these. Remember we swap colours during the stitch before the noted change.
  9. If multiple colours are used I will note in superscript which colour to complete the crochet in.
